2010 USAW Folkstyle National Championships

The 2010 USA Wrestling Junior/Cadet National Championships were held on April 1-2 in Cedar Falls, IA on the University of Northern Iowa campus. 25 wrestling mats were spread across the floor of the UNI-Dome in this two-day event. Over 1,200 athletes competed.

Matt Wyss became Victory School of Wrestling’s second Junior National Champion by placing first in the 285 pound weight class. Wyss defeated returning Cadet National Champion and high school state champion Taylor Henry in a triple overtime bout.

State champion Corey Hodowanic was stopped in the finals by Nick Harrison (Illinois) in a controversial 4-3 match. Corey placed 7th at 112 pounds in 2008 and was 3rd at 119 last year. He defeated Wisconsin state champion Hunter Weber in a true-second place wrestleback match. The top two finishers at each weight class earn “funded access” to the US Olympic Training Center.
